I've been having several bouts of chest pains lately that shows the typical symptoms of angina.I decide to put my mind at ease and went for a check-up at Sengkang Polyclinic on Friday morning.I was surprised that the doctor referred me to CGH A&E straightaway, saying that it would save my life.It must be due to the 5 cases of mysterious, sudden deaths of so-called healthy, young individuals that spooked all the doctors nowadays.I decided to go in the evening as I have already made reservations for a High Tea buffet at Orchard Hotel. The spread consists of local fare and some Western snacks, nothing to rave about.Aisyah behaved herself well that afternoon and it added to my enjoyment. After returning from Orchard Road where we shopped for toys,I walked into Changi General Hospital, hoping and praying for the best.
I was told to go for an ECG test and chest X-ray immediately. It was quite embarrasing as I was made to lie down nekkid and THREE young, nubile, pretty female student nurses began flipping my breasts left and right to tape the ECG electrodes.Instead of feeling like an A/V pronstar,I felt so molested.I tried to calm myself down and think of my power animal. Those patients suffering from terminal cancer knows about this trick in order to shut off the chemotherapy pain. One of the nurses even had the audacity to address me as uncle.WTH!!!As someone in a customer service profession, you should never address your customer as uncle,auntie,ah-kong,ah-ma,whatever.I must get the feedback form to complain. The results finally came in and I was told that my ECG and X-ray looks perfectly fine but they are not taking any chances. An appointment was made to see a cardiac specialist in January.Sheesh..
Total waiting time in A&E: 2.5 hours
Total cost :$65(Wonder how long it would take if I paid top dollar for the same treatment at a fully privatised hospital)
